Kshetra Kshetrajna Vibhaga Yoga, the Yoga of Distinction between the Field and the Knower of the Field, explains the spiritual difference between the physical body and the eternal soul. In this chapter, Lord Krishna teaches Arjuna that the human body is called the “Kshetra” (Field), while the conscious self or soul that experiences, observes, and understands the body is called the “Kshetrajna” (Knower of the Field).
Krishna explains that ignorance causes people to identify only with the body, mind, emotions, and material world, while true spiritual wisdom comes from realizing the eternal nature of the soul beyond physical existence.
The chapter also describes the qualities of true knowledge, including humility, self-control, non-violence, purity, detachment, devotion, compassion, and spiritual inquiry. Lord Krishna further explains the relationship between material nature (Prakriti), consciousness (Purusha), and the Supreme Divine present within all beings.
